“My paintings reflect knowledge and understanding of my subject as I love being outdoors, gathering information for my paintings. This is a precious time that I relish, absorbing what I see and feel, then creating a painting that has those 'special moments' captured in time“”

Born in Dalby, Queensland, Australia and being the fifth generation to live and work on the family property breeding and fattening beef cattle, I have always had a passion for the great outdoors, birds and wildlife. As a child I rode and hiked throughout our farm and the Bunya Mountains National Park, observing and drawing the birds and wildlife in their natural habitat.
This passion has turned into my life as I paint what I have seen and experienced; my paintings embrace the awe I feel when I am out in the landscape. It is the little things that inspire me, a sunbeam lit up through the clouds, a scene that is touched with golden light, the unique flora and fauna of Australia.
I am always searching for that ‘special moment’ and I use photography as a reference tool to capture that split second movement of a bird or animal flitting through the bush. I paint either in the studio or plein air depending on the subject and size of the artwork.
Working in acrylic and/or mixed media in a contemporary realism style, my paintings show my love for colour and texture. I paint to portray the emotional response that I feel for my subject and am absolutely delighted when a viewer connects to what I have felt.
Recommendations from clients:
"Through life you come upon people who excel in a field and rarely do you see persons who excel in all they do. Cathy is one such person as she does her work to perfection with honesty, integrity and cheerfulness. She has a gift that is rarely seen in people which is being able to transfer the very spirit of the scene she is painting to canvas. One feels as though they are in the scene. I have no hesitation in recommending Cathy's work to any purchaser or prospective purchaser.
Cathy keep up the fantastic work as we all need people like you. "
“I am speechless. The painting is breathtaking……the landscape is beautiful and the six babblers are babbling perfectly (pity the poor little moth).I am so happy.
Thanks – I truly love it.
Many, many thanks,
You are a wonderful wildlife (in its habitat) painter. Your wrens are also testament to this. I would love to see more of these types of paintings."

"Cathys work gives a feeling of peace and serenity which is often juxtaposed with her use of vibrant colours - perhaps a reflection of Cathy herself! We have one of her paintings in our entry hall which we love."
